Race report final run 4 SK-West & Race Car Series
03.10. until 04.10.2020

The 2020 final was actually supposed to take place on one of the most beautiful routes in Europe. Unfortunately, the COVID19 virus thwarted this calculation again and we then had to move our final to the MCC Rhein Ahr. But Luxembourg is only postponed and not canceled. We will definitely come to you in 2021. Promised
The MCC Rhein Ahr eV jumped in at short notice and the team made it possible for us to have a worthy finale. Thank you for that. You are the best with the best kitchen I know! We come to the race weekend. The weather was announced rather mixed, including the temperatures. Despite the rather mediocre weather forecast, 55 drivers made their way to the final. Due to Corona, we also had to set the limits a little narrower. A few days earlier, the number of infections was extremely high. But enough of that, let's talk about the event. Many arrived on Friday morning. Friday was also completely dry, so we could train a lot. The first scent marks were set here. Saturday was marked by rain. But also on that day the time was used to find a rain setup. Because the forecast for Sunday indicated rain in the morning and around noon it should be dry. So everyone who wanted to get into the finals had to go into the damp. So the first run on Saturday was on a damp track. Some then use this to set at least a time. Despite all of this, we had three great days and evenings with a great atmosphere in the paddock and a lot of fun with various petrol talks.

The "Truck Grand Prix" class was actually quite well occupied that weekend. 6 drivers were named. Due to the virus mentioned above, three drivers had to cancel at short notice, so that unfortunately there were only three drivers at the start. This is really a shame for this unique class. The three starters didn't let that spoil their mood while driving. After the three preliminary runs, the following sequence emerged:

Tobias Gagesch was able to grab the pole with his truck in front of the championship leader Thomas Dammer and the bar Matador Romano Wagner. Thus the starting line-up for the final was given. As I said, all finals "Thank God" could be run in the dry. At the start Tobias tried to pull away and drove one fast lap after the other. Thomas had a little trouble keeping up with the team. Romano, meanwhile, was waiting to be able to take advantage of this situation. Unfortunately, Tobi's technique failed in lap 56 and he unfortunately had to give up the final early. Clear path for Thomas Dammer, who then drove home the victory, followed by Romano Wagner in second place.

Let's move on to the next class, which unfortunately wasn't as crowded as we all would have liked. The virus certainly has its finger in the game here as well. Three drivers battled it out for the top spot on the podium this weekend. After the preliminary runs, which all took place in the wet, it turned out that our guy is a real little rain god. He could sit down in front of Günter and Derin.
The dry finale was again Günter's territory. I think he had done by far the most laps in Bad Breisig in the last few years in contrast to the others. In spite of a tire wiped away and the involuntary pit stop associated with it, he was able to win the final with a considerable 8 lap lead.
The second highlight of the weekend was definitely our formula drivers. 13 F1 cars were at the start. That meant that you had to qualify for the final this time. Everyone had to go through the semi-finals and for three of them that meant premature end. So here the prelims had a real meaning again. It was now important to get a good starting position in the semifinals. That tried to get interesting feelings in most of the drivers. On the one hand nervousness but paired with a positive thrill. Here is the ranking after the three preliminary runs. Holger Plähn and Silvio Böhmischen were able to do it best under the humid conditions.
Let's get to the semi-finals. In the first semi-final, the track was still 30% damp. You can see that in the lap times and the total laps. Holger Stannek was the first who couldn't buy a ticket for the final. Unfortunately he had to give up the semifinals prematurely after about 3 minutes. In semi-final A it was Norbert with technical problems. It's a shame at the point. Nice that he was there as a sponsor. Bernd had probably got something wrong with the setup. He was able to finish but also failed to make it into the final. So the finalists were certain:

In the finale, Technik Teufel overtook four drivers. It started from lap 34 and on lap 67 there were only 6 left in the race. Of these 6 drivers, the first three fought for the top spot on the podium until the last lap. With a lead of 8 seconds, Andreas van Hüth could then decide for himself. It was a great race. Up to round 67 it was even a four-way fight. Den Gogol also Gogol had great chances of victory. A broken strut from the shock absorber then took away the dream. Here is the result.

And here the overall ranking of the Formula Challenge

Finally we come to our GT cars. Of the 33 participants who had initially registered, 30 were at the start. Among other things, the GT Series is about the Challenge Cup for the championship. After three races there were actually 5 drivers who could have immortalized themselves on the trophy. So the damp prelims were also of particular importance here, because getting to the semi-finals was of immense importance for the boys. In the wet there are also one or two specialists for whom the track conditions were a huge advantage. Markus Streicher and Marcel Schildwächter are two of the guys who are extremely capable of doing constant laps in wet conditions, as you can see from the preliminary ranking list.
At this point it is no shame that I repeat myself more often, but with this tight field, there is absolutely no shame to have to go through the quarter-finals. Every final that I saw that weekend was mega exciting. It's nice to see that one or the other colleague who has been with us since the beginning has meanwhile become serious opponent. Thomas Ball, for example, was able to prevail in quarter-finals B and win the run despite the strong line-up. Respect. Also in quarter-finals A there were consistently very good drivers at the start. Michael Schwarz, Stephan Schroeder and Torsten Förster were able to make their way to the semi-finals clear here. For the rest of the time, it wasn’t the end of the day, but the final C

The semi-finals were also unbeatable in terms of excitement. You had to give 110% for the whole 15 minutes to get into the A-final. Mistakes were punished immediately. If you look at the first 5 of the respective finals and the following 6th and 7th place you can see how tight the whole thing was. Here the field of 20 drivers divided into the A and B finals. The first 5 of both finals advanced to the A final and 6th to 10th place went to the B final

The C final was great. Unfortunately, five drivers were also penalized here by the technology. What a shame for these five. The rest of the 20 minutes had a lot of fun and many exciting duels. Places 1 to 5 were close together. Marcus Bader was just able to prevail over Reiner Bosse. And 3rd to 5th place were also very close to the podium. Congratulations to all of you

It was very similar in the B final. A shame for all of these finals that we cannot admit spectators at the moment. Absolutely fantastic. In the end, places 1 to 3 were within 1.5 seconds. And places 4 and 5 were only just behind. Great race overall. That makes you want to see the year 2021

There was no end to the tension at the A final. The result list says more than I could write. From 1st to 8th place it was so close that each of the 8 drivers could have won it. In the end it was Michael Donovan with his Porsche GT3R ahead of Marcus Oppenhorst (BMW GT3 ALMS) and Michael Mielke (STtwo). A mega final like the others.

The AM rating was mixed up this time. Congratulations to Dennis (1st place), Tobias Keller (2nd place) and Heiko Kulik (3rd place) for this. Incidentally, Heiko was at the start for the first time. Well done!

Here is the overall ranking:

Conclusion from the final:
Absolutely worthy final on the weekend despite the sometimes modest weather. All finals were at least in the dry. Mega exciting in all classes. Now it's time for the well-deserved winter break. We still have one event. Our championship celebration. A wonderful evening to honor all participants who were there. No matter whether with a trophy or without. The participants of this great series deserve to be celebrated and so we will spend a great evening with you on November 28th, 2020

Race report SK-West & Race Car Series
19.09.2020 to 20.09.2020

Welcome to the Netherlands
This weekend's run 3 of the Race Car Series was under this motto. The EVMC Velp gave us a perfect race track and a great weekend. Thanks a lot for this. The weather was also really good for us this weekend. Three wonderful autumn sunny days invited too much racing action.
About the racetrack: The layout of the racetrack is really fun. The grip is absolutely okay, so you can look forward to a nice ride. Where you should be careful are the curbs. There are two or three places where the wise saying "stay away from the curbs" is definitely appropriate. The absolutely most dangerous is certainly the one at the beginning of the straight. The so-called "turtle" (the concrete hill resembles a turtle shell) can only ruin the whole race when you breathe on. But you realize this very quickly and otherwise the track is very friendly to drive.

Unfortunately, only two drivers were named this time at the "Truck Grand Prix". For this reason we unfortunately had to cancel this beautiful class. But we hope that we can count on many trucks again for the finale.
The Touring Car Trophy was well attended this weekend with 10 drivers. It was also gratifying that many Dutch people were at the start for the coveted trophies. After the three heats, Rick van der Bol was able to secure pole position in front of Kevin Tolenaars and Marco Harleman. 4th and 5th place went to the two German drivers Günter Honert and Carsten Keller.
In the final, Günter Honert was able to move up to second place with his calm and routine. Rick van der Bol unfortunately had technical problems and had to give up the race after 41 laps. Vic Minunno was unfortunately unable to start for a similar reason. Carsten Keller, who is still in the test phase with his new MCD Duox, drove confidently to 4th place. Here is the final ranking of the Touring Car Trophy ...
Fortunately, the Formula Challenge was also very well attended with 9 starters. Here, too, things were very close. Gogol, who was always very good in the last races, was able to place his RS5 on pole after the heats, closely followed by one of our northern lights, Holger Plähn. In this context, let me say that it makes us really proud that we have some "Northern Lights" who take the long journey to take part in our beautiful racing series. Thanks a lot for this.
3rd place went to Bernd Cronert, closely followed by Patrick Reints. Robert, who usually feels at home in the upper half of the classification, had no luck in the heats and unfortunately couldn't finish one. Unfortunately, this bad luck will also haunt him in the final ...
In the final, Gogol didn't really have any doubts that he was the fastest formula all weekend. In the manner of Lewis Hamilton, he took the victory in Race 3. Alexander Stanneck was definitely a surprise, who moved his new formula for the very first time on the weekend. Acceptably on the way in the preliminaries, he proved in the final that he definitely has podium qualities. Second place for the first outing promises more in the next race. 3rd place went to the only Dutch in the formula field. Patrick Reints was able to secure the last podium place. Bernd Cronert secured 4th place just past the podium and unfortunately also failed before the end. Valuable points for the ranking list. Holger Plähn finished 5th. Everyone else behind unfortunately had one or two problems and had to give up the race prematurely. With Robert and Jörg it was malfunctions and with Silvio the technology of his HK Zero. Unfortunately, Antonino couldn't even start.
The super sports car league was packed with 30 drivers this weekend. More was not possible in Holland. Unfortunately, 3 drivers had to cancel at short notice, so that 27 GT cars took to the start. In the heats this weekend, nobody could really break away. The first 8 were within one round after the heats. But after that, up to 23rd place, it was also incredibly tight. That alone promised a thriller in all finals on Sunday. But I don't want to get ahead of the game. Let's get back to the preliminary. After three preliminary runs, the two Michael have taken place 1 and 2. Michael Donovan and Michael Mielke took pole position for the two semifinals. Behind them for second place in the semifinals were Günter Honert and Dennis Thyssen. By the way, Dennis is a returnee. Only since this year back, he shows impressively that he has not forgotten anything. His father Oliver is also doing very well and we are happy that both of them are back.
The quarter-finals in the GT Series are definitely not a shame with such a tight field. Here, too, there was a lot of tension and fair duels on the agenda. Alex, David and Tobi qualified for the semi-finals in the B quarter-finals and Torsten, Oli and Holger in the A quarter-finals. The semifinals were then divided. The first 5 went to the A final and the last 5 to the B final. In both finals this was also very close as you can see below. Thus, all three main finals were equipped with beautiful GT cars and great drivers.

The main finals C & B & A were coming up. In the C final, due to a few technical failures, only 4 vehicles started. Here Thomas Ball was able to confidently secure first place. Behind them, Holger Wenzel drove well in second place. Davide inherited the podium from Michael, who had previously failed.

The excitement of the B final was unbeatable. Top-class cast was a fair fight in the 20 minutes with a happy ending for Tobias Bosse. Second place went to Alexander Stanneck again, as in the formula. Third was Torsten Förster just ahead of Oliver Thyssen. He, in turn, didn't really have that much advantage over Tobias Keller, who was on the hunt for fourth place with Dirk and Oli in tow. You can see it was really tight and exciting.

This time the start was absolutely smooth and it got straight to the point. The speed differences were so small that the field only pulled apart towards the second third of the race. One or the other got problems with tire wear after 20 minutes. After 30 minutes the podium was set. And the winner is ...

Michael Donovan ahead of Michael Mielke and Marcus Oppenhorst. The three fastest from the preliminary races were able to repeat this again in the final. Congratulations

Our new boys and one of those who traveled a long way decided the AM rating for themselves. Congratulations to Dennis (1st place) & Oliver Thyssen (3rd place) and Alexander Stanneck (2nd place) for this.

Conclusion on the subject of engines. We checked four engines again on Saturday evening. None of the four engines showed any complaints and complied with the rules. Mine was there too.

Here is the overall ranking:

The XR5 Rallycross was again better attended this weekend with 14 starters. Sven Rodewald, once again the fastest of the group, took pole ahead of Marc Kreisig.
In the finale at the beginning it looked like a similar podium again at the beginning. However, rallycross technology sometimes does what it wants. This resulted in a completely different podium than expected. First place went to Necdet Yaman, second place to Mirco Neikes-Schwarzer and Marcel Tendler completed the podium. Congratulations everyone ...
It was a fantastic weekend with many new faces, which we are very happy about. A few degrees less temperature would have been good not only for the cars but also for the drivers. But what's the name of "That's Racing"

We are looking forward to the next run on September 19th to September 20th at the EVMC Velp

08/08/2020 to 09/08/2020

Tropical Days at MCK Dormagen eV
At the 2nd round of the Race Car Series, the weather was particularly good for us and gave us two days of bright sunshine. Unfortunately, however, also temperatures that are not necessarily advantageous to drive to the RC Var. One or the other should become painfully aware of this in the course of the event. I was also affected. In addition, the 37 degrees were a real challenge for the mask requirement. But we don't want to complain. The track offered sensational grip conditions and all 66 participants had a lot of fun with their cars. The striking thing about the route, which I also lovingly called "Little Monaco", should unfortunately also be the undoing of one or the other during the course of the weekend! The layout is great and very fluid. However, there are very few run-out zones and some sections are only separated by a concrete wall. In addition, there is a very uncomfortable bump and high curbs in the fast passage. As I said, a great layout and very nice to drive. Can be done with healthy respect. Only mistakes are consistently punished with a technical defect here in "Klein Monaco". We'll see who could do this best.

Unfortunately, there were only three drivers at the start at the "Truck Grand Prix" this time. That's a shame for this very amusing contact sports class (quote taken from Olly). But the three drivers who were at the start drove on such a tight level about the pole position, which despite everything was very nice to look at. After the heats, the ranking looked like this. Markus Schneider was just able to secure pole position in front of Thomas Dammer and Oliver Schnell.
In the final, a similar picture emerged as in run 1 in Bad Breisig. Apparently, starting position 2 is the best starting position for Thomas. With a lead of 1 lap, he was able to win the race ahead of Markus Schneider. Unfortunately, Oliver had to forego the final due to technical problems.

We had a real surprise at the Touring Car Trophy this weekend. The surprise is called Jan Ratheisky. Actually at home in the electronics sector. Due to the lack of races, he decided to try it out with 1: 5. And what can you say, he actually shaved the whole field of drivers in the Trophy. One can only say chapeau about it. The heats went very clearly to Jan, even local hero Günter Honert couldn't keep up with the speed. And to top it all off, Jan drove in the Trophy with a "standard engine". You read that right. So even more respect for this achievement!
The Formula Challenge this weekend was again close to the heats. The first three, Robert, Silvio and Gogol were very thin together. Although it didn't look really good for Jörg and Gogol on Saturday after the first run. Jörg had a problem on the straight. Everyone knows, fast straights are not the best place for problems. Unfortunately recognized too late by the following, Gogol smoked unchecked in Jörg's formula. Two broken formulas were the result. It was praiseworthy that both vehicles started again on Sunday. Pole went to Robert Franicevic. Silvio two and Gogol three. Closely followed by Axel, Jörg and Holger. The bottom of the weekend went to Antonino Frenna. Due to work, he could only drive on Sundays. Unfortunately, he couldn't make up for that.
GT Series was once again the strongest class this weekend. Not only that people from the far north come to us, no, there are also three newcomers and a lady in our field. It's nice that Sandra Anno traveled with Curt from Belgium. The newcomers are Klaus Michel, Oliver & Daniel Thyssen. Welcome to the LIGA of super sports cars. In the heats, local hero Michael Donovan was able to prevail relatively clearly ahead of Marcus Oppenhorst. Both are based in Dormagen and can hardly be beaten on this demanding route. Despite here the preliminary ranking list:
In the Race Car Series you can write something about every finale, because all finals were extremely exciting and no one could be sure that they would just drive it home. This would go beyond the scope. For this reason, here are the rankings for the quarter and semi-finals

The main finals C & B & A were coming up. Each finale is a highlight in itself and it is great fun to see that all finals were completely filled with the exception of the cancellations and therefore racing pure was due. Each one was sensational, because here too there was always fair fighting up to the checkered flag. In the C final, a remarkable performance by Holger Wenzel, who has not been on the road with a 1: 5 for so long.

In the B final the start was a bit chaotic, Daniel Stein was able to take advantage of that for a long time and led the race until almost shortly before the end, but then he could no longer defend himself against the faster Günter Honert. Until then, however, a remarkable race from Daniel.

The A final started similarly chaotic. It started with a visit from a wasp in the driver's cab, who had fallen madly in love with Michael Donovan. For this reason he had to leave the driver's cab after the 5th lap, because it was no longer possible. I also had the pleasure of flirting with her. But thank God this only lasted a few minutes and she looked for the next one. Unimpressed by all this, Marcus Oppi Oppenhorst was able to extend his lead. The only one who came halfway after was Michael Mielke. Thus the podium was also fixed here.

Our new boys and one of those who traveled a long way decided the AM rating for themselves. Congratulations to Dennis & Oliver Thyssen and Michael Rieck for this.

Conclusion on the subject of engines. We checked four engines on Saturday evening. None of the four engines showed any complaints and complied with the rules.

Here is the overall ranking:

The XR5 Rallyecross were well attended this weekend with 9 starters. Sven Rodewald, the winner of run 1 in Bad Breisig, had to repeat this triumph. After the three preliminary runs, he made this clear.
In the finale at the beginning it looked like the plan would work, but he had the bad luck that he had to stop with a dry tank shortly before the end. The tribute of the heat. So the winner of run 2 was now Marc Kreisig. For Sven it was enough to make 2nd place. Behind them, Marcel Tendler crossed the finish line.
It was a fantastic weekend with many new faces, which we are very happy about. A few degrees less temperature would have been good not only for the cars but also for the drivers. But what's the name of "That's Racing"

We are looking forward to the next run on September 19th to September 20th at the EVMC Velp

Race report SK-West & Race Car Series
04/07 to 05/07/2020

A racing weekend full of innovations after the far too long winter break. On the one hand something special under the existing provisions of the Corona ordinances, on the other hand because there has not been an SK run with so many participants for a long time. Including the guest classes truck and rallycross, 62 participants took part in the Race Car Series. When the weather was consistently good, the mood was dampened a little by the mandatory mouth protection, but the good mood and the desire to race were not turned off.
Due to the large number of participants (8 preliminary groups), the MCC Rhein Ahr started training in groups on Saturday afternoon. In the afternoon, the first run for all participants was run. On Sunday morning a little earlier than usual it went on with two and three lead times.
In the Truck Grand Prix, the local Matador Romano Wagner with his FG 2020.2 was able to take pole position ahead of the champion of the NRW Cup 2019 Thomas Dammer.
In the final, however, Thomas Dammer was ahead of the game after 30 minutes and Markus Schneider banished the veteran Romano Wagner to third place.

At the Touring Car Trophy this weekend, Michael Donovan was the measure of all things ahead of Maximilian Hornig and Günter Honert.
What looked relatively clear after the heats was a thrilling battle for first place over 30 minutes between Michael Donovan and Maximilian Hornig in the final. The rest could not keep up with the speed of the two Mecatech drivers at any point. And so the podium was fixed after 30 minutes.
In the Formula Challenge it was all the tighter. The first 6 drivers all finished their heats with 21 laps. The overtime was also relatively close, so it promised to be an exciting final. The electric formula driver Guido Mamat also showed that battery power can also be used with combustion engines. At the end of the preliminary runs, the German Champion Touring Car Standard was ahead in the formula class, closely followed by the newcomer Gogol.
Unfortunately, the final was ravaged by several mistake fiends. Only two drivers saw the checkered flag after the 30 minutes. They were probably faster than their mistake devils. The winner after the 30 minutes was Jörg Fehling.
The quarter-finals were just as exciting as the semi-finals, so you can't really highlight anyone here. Everyone almost had a chance to move up. And in the semi-finals, each of the 10 participants in the individual finals could have reached the A final. The nice thing is that everyone got a final. And at this point you have to mention that all finals were held very fairly and I had the feeling that everyone had fun at the end of the day. Uwe Pauly (Mecatech) won the A final, closely followed by Michael Mielke (S88R) and Stephan Schröder (Mecatech). In the B final, the podium is Bernd Cronert (Mecatech) ahead of Daniel Stein (Mecatech) and Markus Streicher (RS5). Michael Rieck (Genius) was the first to cross the finish line in the C final, ahead of Wolfgang Wimmelmann (RS5) and Hans Peter Schmitz (FG).
Here is the overall ranking.
But since there are two ratings in the GT Series, there were 6 winners. In the PRO class this was Uwe Pauly (Mecatech) ahead of Michael Mielke (S88R) and Stephan Schröder (Mecatech).
In the AM, the winners were Dirk Krause (Mecatech) ahead of David Martin (Genius) and Tobias Keller (Mecatech).

Our new guest class (maybe also an integral part of the series) the XR5 Rallecross should not go unmentioned. 8 participants started here and the guys gave everything to put on a good show with their vehicles. After the heats, Sven Rodewald was able to secure pole position for the final ahead of Marc Kreisig and Dario Nicolosi.
In the final, Sven and Marc were able to clearly set themselves apart from the rest of the field and also fought a thrilling fight that ended in first place in favor of Sven Rodewald. Marc Tendler secured a well-deserved third place.
The conclusion of this weekend, especially from those coming from further afield, was consistently positive. Everyone enjoyed driving the kilometers and also said they would love to come back.

We look forward to the next run and will see you again on the white line at MCK Dormagen on 08/08/2020 to 09/08/2020.
